The Messalonskee School District, MSAD #47, lies in the heart of the famous Belgrade Lakes region of Maine. Messalonskee High School is located in Oakland, ME. Messalonskee is a regional high school which serves around 900 students in grades 9 -12 from the surrounding towns of Oakland, Belgrade, Sidney and Rome. Founded in 1969, Messalonskee is approved by Maine's Department of Education and accredited by NEASC, the New England Association of Schools & Colleges.
Messalonskee High School staff models the philosophy of learning for life. Our teachers hold degrees in all content areas, from schools throughout the nation and the world. Bachelors degrees are held by 44% of Messalonskee staff, Masters degrees by 36% and Certificate of Advanced Studies for 30+hours beyond a Masters, with 17% currently working on advanced degrees. The staff regularly attends workshops, seminars and institutes in order to become current in their field of study, to expand their understanding of how students learn, and to increase their ability to reach all students.
